Scholarship recipient Heemin Choi receives national recognition for his virtuosic violin playing by being added to the CBC's 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30.

Heemin Choi received the Talent Trust's Raymond Simpson Award in 2010 and 2016 and the NSTT's 2014 Lieutenant Governor's Award.
In Halifax, Choi studied with Philippe Djokic at Dalhousie University before heading to Houston, Texas, to complete his master's degree with Paul Kantor at Rice University.
He participated in the Verbier Festival Academy last summer, and got to play Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 under the direction of Simon Rattle.
