We are honoured to welcome His Honour, the Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, ONS, QC, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia as the Talent Trust's Honorary Chair. 
It is wonderful to see that this tradition since 1944 will continue. 

His Honour sent us the following note:

Nova Scotia is fortunate to have the Nova Scotia Talent Trust support the many emerging artists who wish to pursue a professional career in the arts. With the backing of the NSTT, these fledgling artists will soon enrich our lives and contribute to Nova Scotia’s wonderful arts scene. To that end, I am truly honoured and delighted to serve as the Honorary Chair of the NSTT.

Marc Djokic, violinist wins Prix Goyer Canada's largest prize for classical music

Violinist Marc Djokic has been awarded the second biennial Prix Goyer, Canada’s largest prize for classical music. Congratulations Marc!

Awarded to a ‘collaborative emerging musician’ under the age of 33, the prize is worth CAD $125,000, which includes: $50,000 in cash, $50,000 from online classical music video channel Noncerto in the form of production, distribution and marketing of 18 classical music videos; a commission from composer Matthias Maute worth $13,500; and $11,500 of business coaching.

Marc won the Talent Trust's Raymond Simpson Award in 2002 and the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Award in 2003. 

Celebrate with us the 49 Talent Trust Scholarship recipients of 2017!

The Talent Trust supports artists of all disciplines in their formative years with scholarships and special awards. In 2017 we were able to support 49 Nova Scotia emerging artists. Congratulations to all!

Scholarships make a significant difference in the lives of these emerging artists as Rebecca Wolfe from Dartmouth told us: 

I am honoured to receive a Talent Trust scholarship for the second time. Your continued support means the world to me. It is very difficult making ends meet living away from home and going to school. 

The scholarship I have received will ease my mind about financials during this upcoming school year and will allow me to focus on my studies at Humber College’s Theatre Performance Program.

The Talent Trust has awarded $80,000 in scholarships to emerging Nova Scotian artists in the fields of dance, theatre, media (film) studies, music, visual and literary arts. Wilsons Featured Exhibit Gallery at the Discovery Centre

24 Nova Scotian artists (Art Focus Group) collaborated with 24 Danish artists from Esbjerg (Blå Døre Group).

Each started a painting then sent it to their collaborator in Denmark to finish it and vice versa. After the exchange each artist created a response piece to reflect our project experience. In total 96 works were created.

You can enjoy the exhibition in Halifax until October 4, 2017 before it travels to Denmark.

Mike Hirschbach, a former clown with the Cirque du Soleil, brings to life the story of his mentor, his eccentric Uncle Podger. 

The Daily News gushed that Uncle Podger’s Hat is, “a wonderful vehicle for this versatile and charming performer. He juggles, he plays the musical saw, he can ride a unicycle. With a rubber face made to bring on laughter, Hirschbach endears us to Uncle Podger, a clumsy old man who may not be able to hang a picture without inciting disaster, but who can balance a peacock feather on his chin or play two flutes at once.”
