Recipient Barbara Hannigan continues on her winning streak as a soprano and conductor.
In
2018, she took home a Juno as well as a Grammy for her album Crazy, Girl Crazy. In 2019, she won a second Juno Award for Vienna: Fin de siècle Classical Album of the Year.
Recently she has been awarded Denmark’s
highest honour in classical music, the Léonie Sonning Music Prize 2020.
Previous
winners include Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, and Miles Davis.
The award will be presented at a concert on April 23, 2020 at
Copenhagen’s DR Concert House as the highlight of a mini-festival featuring the
artistry of Barbara Hannigan.
