Nick Veltmeyer Draws Musical Connections Across the Ocean

Aureas Voces teams up with Musique Royale to present a tour of freshly arranged traditional Nova Scotian folksong with Nick Veltmeyer’s An Ocean Apart: English and Nova Scotian Song.

Enjoy Nick’s rigorous exploration and contemporary treatment of Helen Creighton’s collection in his showcase of some of the province’s timeless stories as well as works from celebrated English composer Henry Purcell (1659-1695) that speak to the triumph of love over grief.

Aureas Voces director Nick Veltmeyer congregates a group of 15 emerging artists from Halifax, Toronto, Montreal and New York, and this tour features soprano Janelle Lucyk, violinist Jeremy Rhizor and lutenist Jonathan Stuchbery.
