Sara Coffin in Public Showing of Next Wave presented by Mocean Dance, December 1-2

Sara Coffin, Susanne Chui, Jessica Lowe, Julie Robert, Liliona Quarmyne, Anastasia Wiebe, and Lydia Zimmer will be joined by special guests for a public showing of Next Wave.

Presented by Mocean Dance, Next Wave is a new creative incubator program for contemporary dance artists.

Sara Coffin received a Talent Trust scholarship to support her studies in dance. 

She’s been Co-Artistic Director of Mocean Dance since 2011, and recently received a 2018 Arts Nova Scotia Established Artist Recognition Award, which recognizes professional mid-career artists.

Mocean Dance is a Halifax-based contemporary dance company that creates new work rooted in collaborative process, stretches physical & emotional boundaries and finds authenticity.

In Next Wave, seven of Halifax’s next wave of dance artists will share their creative practices and explore new ideas and working methods in emergent and generative ways toward the creation of new works. 

Next Wave provides a framework for collaboration, experimentation, dialogue, peer learning and support. These two events open the process for public view.

Dancers Ellery Jackson, Vivian Macnab, Maggie Oates-Johnson, Mollie Oates-Johnson Perform in KiDanCo Spring 2018 Season

A talented group of choreographers and emerging dancers hit the stage when KiDanCo, the resident pre-professional company for emerging dance artists at the Leica Hardy School of Dance present their 7th annual Spring Season of contemporary dance repertoire.

May 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Matinee May 13 at 2:30 p.m.

Choreographer Ruth-Ellen Kroll Jackson Presents To Pulsate in KiDanCo's 2018 Spring Season

KiDanCo, the resident pre-professional company for emerging dance artists at the Leica Hardy School of Dance present their 7th annual Spring Season of contemporary dance repertoire.

Performances include pieces by Kendra Armstrong, Ruth-Ellen Kroll Jackson, Darryl Tracy, Anastasia Wiebe, and Artistic Director Leica Hardy in this dynamic program of original works.

Ruth-Ellen Kroll Jackson's To Pulsate is an athletic, fast-paced piece with urban vibe for six dancers to the music of Frank Bretschneider. 

Ruth-Ellen earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts. Her performing career took her to New York where she danced with such companies as The Martha Graham Dance Ensemble and the Parsons Dance Company. 

Ruth-Ellen continues to work in the region as a choreographer, performer and instructor.

Ruth-Ellen Kroll Jackson one of the choreographers for the KiDanCo dance event

KiDanCo, the resident pre-professional company for emerging dance artists at the Leica Hardy School of Dance, will present their annual spring season of contemporary dance repertoire.

May 16 and May 17

One Needs A Little Courage To Live by Ruth-Ellen Kroll Jackson is a vehicle for five performers which explores the themes of risk-taking, persistence and courage. Ruth-Ellen earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts. Her performing career took her to New York where she danced with such companies as The Martha Graham Dance Ensemble and the Parsons Dance Company. She continues to work in the region as a choreographer, performer and instructor.
