Joining Derksen on stage will be eleven Indigenous dancer and musicians, and members of Symphony Nova Scotia:  Mark Lee and Jennifer Jones, violins; Susan Sayle, viola; Richard Simoneau, trumpet; David Parker, French horn and Eric Mathis, trombone.

Congratulations to Mimisu Lee and Lala Lee!

Mimisu Lee, french horn is the winner of the 2016 Brass and Wind Rosebowl and Lala Lee, piano is the (2nd time winner, 2015 and 2016) of Doctor Piano and Yamaha Canada Piano Rosebowl. Lala has an exciting summer ahead of her. She has been chosen to participate in Morningside Music Bridge, one of the prestigious international music festival for age 12—18 to celebrate its 20th anniversary in Beijing China.

Mimisu's teacher David Parker is a former NSTT scholarship recipient himself. He is the Principal Hornist of Symphony Nova Scotia since 2000 and teaches at Dalhousie's Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Scotia Festival of Music features former NSTT scholarship recipients

Scotia Festival of Music is an annual two-week chamber music festival held in Halifax, NS

boasting over fifty public events. The festival, of a wide variety of concerts and recitals crossing the spectrum from Baroque to contemporary music, will begin on Monday, May 25, and continue until Sunday, June 7.

Featuring international talent of the highest caliber, the festival offers concerts, recitals, open rehearsals, masterclasses, coaching sessions, lectures, and more.

David Parker,  French Horn will perform with Nova Sinfonia presented by String Music Atlantic on 

Monday, November 3 at 7:30 pm at
Faith Tabernacle in Halifax

David is a former NSTT scholarship recipient and has given back to the NSTT by serving on our Scholarship Selection Committee a few years back.

Tickets are available from members of Nova Sinfonia, at the door, and in advance, from The Bowed Instrument Shop in the Maritime Conservatory of the Performing Arts, 6199 Chebucto Road, open from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
