Holiday Favourite The Nutcracker Returns with Talent Trust Dance Scholarship Recipients in the Cast

Holiday favourite The Nutcracker returns to the stage in Halifax December 7-16, with a number of Talent Trust dance scholarship recipients in the cast: Anais Grant Church, Ellery Jackson, Vivian Macnab, Alexis Milligan, Maggie Oates-Johnson, and Mollie Oates-Johnson.

Leica Hardy, who has taught many Talent Trust scholarship recipients through the Leica Hardy School of Dance, celebrates her 28th year as the director/choreographer.

Symphony Nova Scotia, in partnership with Halifax Dance and Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, presents the magical tale, which features larger-than-life puppets, spirited dancing, and the beloved music of Tchaikovsky.

Alexis Milligan Stars in Any Given Moment at Ship’s Company Theatre

Alexis Milligan, Claudia Gutierrez, and Wally McKinnon star in Any Given Moment, a Ship’s Company Theatre co-production with Theatre New Brunswick. The play runs from August 8 - September 2. 

"It's about three strangers who find themselves, through circumstance, trapped in a church basement together because there’s been a bomb threat," says director Natasha MacLellan. "They’re a homeless man, a yoga mom and really angst-ridden teenager. So they do not gel, but they end up having really interesting conversations. It goes to a beautiful place.”

Alexis is a graduate of George Brown Theatre School. A three-time Talent Trust scholarship recipient, she’s forged an impressive career as an award-winning director, choreographer, teacher, and actor in film, television, and theatre.

She’s also active as a jury and board member with organizations including Theatre Nova Scotia, Arts Nova Scotia, and Dance Nova Scotia. We're happy to have Alexis as a current board member of the Talent Trust.

This is an intimate and personal piece, full of humour, and is the result of an interprovincial research collaboration (Halifax, Montreal and Toronto) led by Dr. Brenda Sabo (Dalhousie School of Nursing) with artistic direction by Alexis Milligan (Transitus). The research phase for this project was fully funded by the Canadian Cancer Society. "

How Often Do I Dream… is a multi sensory performance experience which explores how memory functions, how it collapses, and what we become when our memory begins to fade.

Story-telling guide, Katie Dorian, takes you into her Opi’s life and memories, his developing dementia, her own memory failures and the pieces of beauty found among the rubble of a broken mind.

Written and performed by Katie Dorian, co-created and directed by Alexis Milligan, stage managed by Gina Thornhill, original composition by Matthew Amyotte.
